Toronto Sun Zipline to Anchor Activities at Nathan Phillips Square

TORONTO, Ontario – The 100th Grey Cup Festival is excited to unveil details of the mbna Adrenaline Zone, built for the risk taker in all of us. Opening at Nathan Phillips Square on Sunday, November 18 at 11:00 AM, the mbna Adrenaline Zone is action-packed with activities right through to Saturday, November 24.  Anchoring this zone is the Toronto Sun Zipline which, at 130 feet above the square is the tallest urban zip line in North America!  The Toronto Sun Zipline will take its first daring riders on Saturday, November 17 when it opens from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, closing to prepare for the next grand event, the Cavalcade of Lights!  Thrill-seekers can ride the Toronto Sun Zipline for $20 per ride, with proceeds supporting the programs of The Argos Foundation.

The mbna Adrenaline Zone will act as a hotspot of adventure and high-energy activity.  Other activities include a full-size obstacle course operated and designed by the Department of National Defence, guaranteed to test anyone’s endurance. If that’s not enough to get your heart pumping, head over to the Gridiron, located on the iconic Nathan Phillips Square ice rink which has been turfed and transformed into a football field.  There will be marquee games throughout the week and you never know who you might have the chance to suit up against!

After all of that exercise, fans can satisfy their hunger at the High Octane Food Zone.  Chefs from Oliver and Bonacini will be paired with culinary students to cook in an open kitchen on the square to serve an inventive menu of mouth-watering comfort foods.  Each day, fans can treat themselves to Venison Chili and Roasted Peaches and Cream Corn on the barbeque, in addition to one rotating item featuring ingredients from across Canada.  Delicacies such as Smoked BC Sockeye Salmon, Pulled Pork Sandwiches in Pain au Lait from Montreal, or Ottawa’s Maple Mustard Glazed Pork Loin Sandwich will fuel the fire for more action to come.  To top it all off, each item on the menu will only cost $5!

On Thursday, November 22, the mbna Adrenaline Zone will be taken over by more than 400 students from across the GTA for Football Fitness Day!  Inspired by the Toronto Argonauts Argo-Cise program, presented by GoodLife Fitness to increase physical activity in school-age children, Football Fitness Day will engage and educate on the importance of physical activity and healthy eating. Students will have the opportunity to participate in an on-stage exercise tutorial run by Reebok CrossFit instructors, with the help of some CFL alumni, and then move over to the Gridiron to try their hand at football skills led by various stars of CIS football.

Fans can also take in fantastic free concerts all week long!  And eclectic group of artists from all genres of music will entertain while you’re catching your breath.  Bands such as critic’s darlings from Calgary, Secret Broadcast, explosive 5-piece rock band The Little Black Dress and singer, multi-instrumentalist Dane Hartsell.  Fresh off their ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ appearance, Hamilton’s Of Gentlemen & Cowards will also take the stage.  Keeping you on your feet, don’t miss Karl Wolf perform his hit “Mash It Up”!

The action will be non-stop at the mbna Adrenaline Zone thanks to even more activities to check out and sample, courtesy of BlackBerry, Smoke’s Poutinerie, Intel, Sheraton Centre B & B Restaurant, Sears Travel, Frank’s RedHot and Toronto Hydro.
